Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Sleepy Coffee mobile app (“Sleepy Coffee” or the “Sleepy Coffee app”), including the services provided through the Sleepy Coffee app (the “Sleepy Coffee Services”). The Sleepy Coffee app and services are operated by the developer, Shenglan Huang (the “developer”, “we” or “us”). By downloading or using the Sleepy Coffee app you agree to this policy, so please read it carefully before using the app.
Terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Use, which are available in the Sleepy Coffee app, unless defined otherwise here.
This is a translation of the Simplified Chinese policy. The two say the same thing.
1. Information we collect
Sleepy Coffee does not require an account. Your coffee, sleep and water records stay on your device, and in your own iCloud when iCloud Sync is on (see 1.6). We cannot see them. Data is sent to us only in the two cases described in 1.4 and 1.5 below.
1.1 Health data
About Health (HealthKit, referred to below as “Health”) data:
- With your permission, we write data created while you use our services to Health (caffeine intake and water intake).
- With your permission, we read data that other apps record in Health (sleep, caffeine, water and Activity rings) to display it.
- We will not use Health data accessed through our app for advertising or any other commercial purpose.
- We will not show or sell any Health data to any third party, and the Health data we access and record is stored only on your device and in your iCloud backup.
1.2 Log data
Whenever you use our services and the app encounters an error, we collect data and information on your device (through third-party products) called log data. This log data may include your device name, operating system version, the app’s configuration when using our services, the time and date of your use, and other statistics.
1.3 Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. They are sent to your browser by the websites you visit and stored in your device’s internal memory.
This service does not explicitly use cookies. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use cookies to collect information and improve their services. You can choose to accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some parts of this service.
1.4 Feedback you send
When you submit feedback in Settings → Feedback, we receive:
- the text you write;
- screenshots you choose to attach, up to 4;
- the app version and build number, device model (for example iPhone17,2), iOS version, and system language and region.
Feedback does not include your account, email address or any device identifier. Please don’t put personal information you don’t want us to see in the feedback text or screenshots. We use this content only to understand problems and improve the app.
The “Suggestions & Feedback” email link at the bottom of Settings is still available. When you contact us by email, we see your email address and the content of your message.
1.5 Purchase records
When you successfully buy the yearly subscription or the one-time lifetime purchase (and for later transaction updates such as renewals or Ask to Buy approvals), the app sends us the Apple-signed transaction record, together with the app version, build number, iOS version and device type (only iPhone or iPad).
The transaction record does not include your name, email address or payment details, and it is not linked to any account. We use it only to track sales. Whether the app unlocks Pro is decided by Apple’s purchase system on your phone and does not depend on this record. Payment itself is handled by Apple.
1.6 iCloud Sync
Settings → iCloud Sync is on by default. While it is on, your records, your profile photo and the drink cut-outs saved by photo logging sync through your own iCloud account to the devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This data is kept in your iCloud, and we cannot see it.
You can turn sync off at any time in Settings → iCloud Sync. Your data then stays on this device only, and nothing already saved is deleted.
1.7 Logging coffee with a photo
When you log coffee with a photo, the photo is processed only on your iPhone, to recognize the drink and estimate its volume and caffeine. The photo itself is not saved, and it is never sent to us or to any third party. Only a small cut-out of the drink is saved with the record (in your own iCloud when iCloud Sync is on).
Taking a photo needs camera access. Without it, you can still choose a photo from your library.
2. How we collect information
We collect your information when you submit it to us and through the records created while you use our services.
3. How we use and disclose information
To provide you with better, more convenient and secure services, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, we may use the information we collect to:
- Provide our services to you.
- Help us analyze how our services are used.
- Other related purposes that require the information. If a use has no reasonable connection to the original purpose, we will ask for your consent again before using the information.
We will not share your information with unrelated third parties without your consent, except as follows:
We may share your information with our affiliates, third-party service providers, contractors and agents, only for these purposes:
- As necessary to provide the features or services described in “Information we collect”, and for the purposes described in “How we use and disclose information”.
- To fulfill our obligations and exercise our rights under the Terms of Use or this policy.
If we share your information with any of these third parties, we will make efforts to ensure that they comply with this policy and with other appropriate confidentiality and security measures we require of them.
As our business develops, we and our affiliates may undergo a merger, acquisition, asset transfer or similar transaction, and your information may be transferred as part of it. We will comply with applicable laws and regulations, notify you before the transfer, keep the information confidential during the transfer, and ensure the obligations continue after the change.
We may also disclose your information:
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- To comply with court judgments, rulings or other legal proceedings.
- To comply with requests from relevant government agencies or other competent authorities.
- When we have reason to believe it is required by laws and regulations.
- As reasonably necessary to enforce the relevant service agreements or this policy, protect the public interest, handle complaints or disputes, or protect the personal and property safety or legitimate rights of our customers, us, our affiliates, other users or employees.
- When you have lawfully authorized it.
If we disclose your information for any of these reasons, we will inform you promptly, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and this policy.
4. Data retention
We generally keep your information only while we provide our services to you, and no longer than necessary for the purposes it was collected for. In the following cases, and only for purposes related to them, we may need to keep your information, or part of it, for longer:
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- To comply with court judgments, rulings or other legal proceedings.
- To comply with requests from relevant government agencies or other competent authorities.
- When we have reason to believe it is required by laws and regulations.
- As reasonably necessary to enforce the relevant service agreements or this policy, protect the public interest, handle complaints or disputes, or protect the personal and property safety or legitimate rights of our customers, us, our affiliates, other users or employees.
5. Security
Feedback and purchase records are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and stored in the AirBuild-hosted service the developer uses. Only the Sleepy Coffee development team can view them.
6. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, so we recommend checking this page regularly. When we make changes, we will post the new Privacy Policy on this page.
